1. What Fempower is
Fempower is a health information and wellbeing application. It records symptoms you choose to log, explains the hormonal changes commonly associated with them during perimenopause, and offers general self-care suggestions drawn from a curated knowledge base.
Fempower is not a medical device. It has not been assessed, certified or approved as one under the UK Medical Devices Regulations 2002, the EU Medical Device Regulation (EU) 2017/745, or by the US Food and Drug Administration. It is not registered with the MHRA as a medical device and does not carry a UKCA or CE mark for that purpose.
2. Fempower does not give medical advice
Nothing in the app or on this website is medical advice, and no part of it creates a clinician–patient relationship. The content is general information about patterns commonly seen in perimenopause. It is not tailored to your medical history, your medication, your test results or any other condition you may have — because Fempower does not know them.
Always consult your GP, pharmacist, menopause specialist or another qualified healthcare professional about your own health. Never disregard professional advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read in Fempower.
3. What Fempower will not do
- Diagnose. It cannot tell you that you are — or are not — in perimenopause, and it cannot rule out any other cause for your symptoms. Many perimenopausal symptoms overlap with thyroid disease, anaemia, depression, diabetes and other conditions that need proper investigation.
- Prescribe or dose. It will never tell you to start, stop or change a prescription-only medicine, including HRT, or recommend a dose.
- Interpret tests. It cannot read or explain your blood results. Hormone levels fluctuate enormously in perimenopause and a single result means little without clinical interpretation.
- Monitor you. Nobody at Fempower reads your logs or watches for warning signs. The app is not a monitoring or alerting service.
- Handle emergencies. It is not a crisis service and cannot summon help.
4. Supplements, food and exercise
Some suggestions involve over-the-counter supplements, dietary changes or exercise. These are general suggestions of the kind widely discussed for perimenopausal symptoms, not prescriptions. Before acting on any of them:
- Check with your GP or pharmacist, particularly if you take any medication — supplements can interact with prescription medicines.
- Tell them about any existing condition, allergy, or if you are or could be pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Stop and seek advice if anything makes you feel unwell.
Fempower is not responsible for products you buy, and does not endorse any brand or retailer.
5. About the GP scripts
Each symptom includes suggested wording to help you raise it at an appointment. This is written to help you describe your experience clearly and to name options worth discussing. It is not a treatment recommendation, and it does not mean any particular treatment is appropriate for you. Your clinician decides that, with you, knowing your full history.
6. AI-generated content
The assistant, the daily insight and some notification copy are produced by a large language model constrained to Fempower's knowledge base. Constrained is not infallible: generated text can still be wrong, incomplete or awkwardly phrased. Treat everything it says as information to check, not a conclusion to act on. Where the app can offer a rule-based answer instead, it does.
7. When to seek help urgently
Do not use Fempower to decide whether a symptom is serious. Contact a clinician promptly, and do not wait, if you have any of the following:
- Bleeding after your periods have stopped for 12 months or more.
- Bleeding that soaks through a pad or tampon every hour for several hours, bleeding with large clots, or bleeding between periods or after sex.
- Chest pain, severe breathlessness, or a sudden severe headache.
- A new lump in your breast, or changes to your skin or nipple.
- Unexplained weight loss, persistent bloating, or a persistent change in bowel habit.
- Symptoms that are severe, rapidly worsening, or simply not like you.
In an emergency call 999 (UK) or your local emergency number. For urgent but non-emergency advice in the UK, call NHS 111. If you are struggling to cope or having thoughts of harming yourself, the Samaritans are free to call, day or night, on 116 123.
8. Where the content comes from
Fempower's knowledge base is written from mainstream clinical guidance on menopause and perimenopause, including NICE guidance and the British Menopause Society, and is kept under review. Evidence changes; we update the base when it does. If you find something in the app that conflicts with advice from your own clinician, follow your clinician and please tell us.
9. Reporting a problem
If you believe something in Fempower is inaccurate, unsafe or misleading, email support@fempower.ai and we will review it. If you experience a side effect from a medicine or supplement, report it to the MHRA Yellow Card scheme at yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk.
